.... Many lovely views of one of Germany’s 16 national parks... forests and lakes are mixed with grasslands and shrubs so the landscape is constantly changing... it was the first conservation area that protected the upland beech forests... these trees were once the dominating vegetation in Germany and Central Europe... the forest had been used to produce timber for a long time and had experienced massive deforestation... they are now being transformed into wild, unspoilt woodland... you can discover the beautiful nature on trails that run through wonderful spots of untouched nature... home to the largest population of wild cats in Central Europe... the park now protects more than 2.170 endangered plant and animal species... Thanks a lot Sabine!【ツ】

Prince Albert National Park encompasses 3.874 km² in central Saskatchewan and was declared a national park 1927. The Park Headquarters are in Waskesiu.
This National Park represents the southern boreal forest region of Canada. When the Park was established, its land was occupied by the Cree, who had settled in the area in the mid-19thC. Most of the Cree were then obliged to move east to Montreal Lake.
Although named for the city, the park's main entrance is actually 80 km north of Prince Albert, the third-largest city in Saskatchewan.

USA ~ Petrified Forest National Park - Arizona ~
... Great new USA National Park nr24👍... an ancient Forest in the Middle of a Desert... view of a National Historic Landmark located right there in the middle of the Petrified Forest National Park... the restored Painted Desert Inn is a nice glimpse back in time... designed in Pueblo Revival style, made of wood and native stones, this historical museum was once an inn with six rooms... flagstone terraces outside with low walls around them provide excellent views to overlook the Painted Desert.... over 10.000 years of human history can be found in the park, including over 800 archaeological and historic sites... Petrified Forest National Park is the only national park site that contains a segment of the Historic Route 66 alignment... it draws more than 600,000 visitors each year... most come to see one of the world's largest concentrations of brilliantly colored petrified wood... Thanks a lot Elena!❁◕ ‿ ◕❁
From backside postcard:
"The Painted Desert Inn was completed in 1924 as a private residence. Purchased by the National Park Service in the 1930's and reconstructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, it served as a visitor center for Petrified Forest National Park until 1963."
Petrified Forest was designated as a national park in 1962. The park consists of two main sections, and recent legislation has authorized doubling the land area to 218.533 acres.
Hundreds of species of plants and animals can be found in the park, including pronghorn, Gunnison's prairie dog, coyote, bobcat, bullsnake, Arizona tiger salamander, meadowlark, and golden eagle.
During the Late Triassic period, fallen trees were buried by sediment with a high content of volcanic ash. Over the years, quartz crystals gradually replaced the organic wood matter, petrifying the trees. The high quartz content makes the petrified wood very hard: it can only be cut by a diamond-tipped saw. The national park is also known for its fossils (plants dating back 225m years, reptiles and dinosaurs) and a colourful landscape known as the Painted Desert.

JAPAN ~ Kamikochi Kappa Bridge - Hodaka range - Chubu Sangaku National Park ~
.... Wonderful and probably the most iconic view of the mountainous highland valley Kamikochi... Kappa Bridge situated in the center of Kamikochi (literally "upper highlands") is the perfect place to see the Japanese Alps... a pristine mountain valley carved out by the glacial water of the Azusa River and surrounded by some of the tallest peaks of Central Japan's Northern Alps... stunning mountain views, crystal clear waters, and well-placed food huts, makes it one of the most popular and best Japanese Alps hiking areas... Kamikochi is busy with tourists throughout its open months, but probably the most crowded in October when the autumn foliage comes to life... with great special "Matsumoto Castle" postmark also located in Nagano Prefecture... Thanks a lot Asami!【ツ】

CANADA ~ Glacier National Park ~
... Great Canadian National Park nr 17😃... view of a "snow shed ", a concrete cover built over the road to protect traffic from avalanches... there are 134 places within 42 km of the Trans-Canada Highway where avalanches can occur... now sheds are designed to withstand the incredible forces involved with vast amounts of sliding snow, however they’re not meant to stop it... instead, the sheds deflect the snow, allowing it to pass over top while traffic continues to flow underneath.... though a threat to travelers in winter, these paths become lush feeding areas for wildlife during summer... with exceptional alpine scenery and deep valleys filled with ancient forests, deep snow and pristine wilderness Glacier National Park is a year-round paradise... visitors can enjoy cycling, scenic drives, fishing, winter camping, ski-touring and snowshoeing... Thanks a lot Glenn! (✿ ♥‿♥)
