... Lovely old authentic windmill view in the tropical Caribbean... a landmark and a historic reminder of the Dutch influences in Aruba... built over 200 years ago in the Netherlands, the windmill was heavily damaged by storms and eventually abandoned, until it was disassembled in 1960 and sailed 5000 miles across the sea to its new home on the island... currently a restaurant... Thanks a lot Glenn!! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 🌞🌞 Enjoy your holiday!! 🌞🌞
Aruba is one of the Lesser Antilles islands located in the Southern Caribbean Sea. It is one of the four countries that form the Kingdom of the Netherlands, along with the Netherlands, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten; the citizens of these countries are all Dutch nationals.
Its capital is Oranjestad.
"The Old Dutch Windmill" was built in 1804 in Holland to pump water from the lowlands. In 1960 the was purchased by a private merchant, who shipped to Aruba. Once it arrived in pieces, it was reassembled.
This project was officially recognized as the first privately financed tourism initiative on the island.

This site is dedicated to my hobby: collecting written and stamped (from country of origin) postcards! Postcard collecting is a very addictive hobby, but its a lot of fun, and you get in touch with lots of nice people worldwide...
