ARGENTINA ~ South America Map ~

...Fantastic South America map card coming from Argentina...from the 12 countries I'm only missing Colombia and Paraguay and these dependant territories, Falkand Islands (UK), French Guiana (France) South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands (UK)...maybe someone can help???(>‿♥)Thanks a lot Rubén!!

Nestled between the Caribbean, the South Pacific, and the South Atlantic Oceans, South America is the wilder of the Americas.

The world's biggest rainforest and the largest river (Amazon), the highest mountain range outside Asia (the Andes), remote islands (Galapagos Islands, Easter Island and Fernando de Noronha), heavenly beaches (such as in Brazil's Northeastern region), wide deserts (Atacama), icy landscapes (Patagonia & Tierra del Fuego), the world's tallest waterfall (the 979m Angel Falls, in Venezuela) and one of the largest (Iguaçu Falls, Argentina and Brazil), as well as several other breathtaking natural attractions.

There are 12 independent countries and 3 dependent territories. The largest country by area and the most populated is Brazil, it occupies about the 50% of the total mainland area and more than 52% of the population live on its territory. The smallest independent state is Suriname, it is the only nation in this region, speaking Dutch as an official language.

With nice stamps!

1. Casa Rosada (Pink House) is the presidential palace and office of the president.
2. Cabildo - Town Hall This building was used as a government house during colonial times.Currently, Cabildo hosts the National Museum of the Cabildo and the May Revolution.
3. The Metropolitan Cathedral is the main Catholic temple in Buenos Aires. The neoclassical building has not got the typical cathedral profile as it has no towers and it looks more a classical Greek temple than a typical Catholic temple.
4. The Congress Building finished in 1906 in an Italian academic style with some classical touches, the building is a four-storied rectangle and has two pavilions, one on each side. In front of the Congreso Congress building is another beautiful park.

Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city of Argentina, and the second-largest metropolitan area in South America

ARGENTINA ~The House of Archbishop Colombres-Tucumán~

My second card today also shows a great building, beautiful reflected in the water...But I just don't know why they put a sticker on front of the card???Thanks Viviana!

Love the stamps too!

It is situated inside 9 de Julio Park in San Miguel de Tucumán. Bishop Colombres's Home is one the most interesting examples of colonial houses of late 18th century. It consists of two stories with quebracho beam ladders dating from the time it was built. The place was restored around 1913 for the last time.
In its interior are pieces of furniture belonging to its owner, Bishop Eusebio Colombres, apart from some portraits of Argentine national heroes painted by Lola Mora and old coins and bills collections.
The house was declared to be a Historic National Monument in August, 1941.

And for the first time a legend is added: STOP DISCRIMINATION PREVENTION is key to HIV.

ARGENTINA

Received a wonderful envelope! A special relaesed stationary postcard in Argentina for one of the most important philately events this year in Antwerp (Belgium). It was in April: Antverpia 2010. Since 19990 every four years is Birdpex a gathering of collectors and collections from all over the world. Unfortunately I couldn't visit it...:-( But I'm so happy with this beautiful bird card....

The Toucan shown on the stationary postcard is known in Argentina as Arasi Chico-it is 30to33cm long. Its song is like a repetitive vocalization, rough and cavernous. It inhabits the medium and shady strata of the Misones provinde forests thickets in Argentina. It is rarely seen in nature and this justifies that special attention be given tot the conservation of this species.

I also always love all the interesting information included in the evelopes Viviana sent... GREAT!!

ARGENTINA

This time no postcard but a wonderful cover with the set of stamps from this year's UPAEP series dedicated to the national symbols. The two Argentinian stamps, issued on 27 March 2010, feature the national coat of arms and the flag. I really love these stamps!
And a beautiful song about stamps, mail.... A brochure with explaining all about the origin of both the Argentine flag and Coat of Arms. I find it all really interesting!!

The national flag of Argentina is a triband, composed of three equally wide horizontal bands coloured light blue, white and light blue. The full flag featuring the sun is called the Official Ceremonial Flag (Spanish: Bandera Oficial de Ceremonia). The flag without the sun is considered the Ornamental Flag. While both versions are equally considered the national flag, the ornamental version must always be hoisted below the Official Ceremony Flag.
The Coat of Arms of Argentina was established in its current form in 1944, but has its origins in the seal of the Sovereign General Assembly of 1813.

Argentina Post issued on March 6, 2010 a commemorative stamp depicting the logo of the bicentenary chosen in a conquest. On May 25th, 2010 Argentina will celebrate the 200 years of the revolution that opened the way to Independence. The bicentenary of “The May Revolution” will be celebrated throughout the year through various activities and ceremonies that will end at the great feast of the May 25.
