... Beautiful view of an expert kite-maker designing a traditional moon kite or Wau Bulan... Wau Bulan is the name given to Malaysian Moon Kite (the word "bulan" meaning moon in Malay)... given the right colour, wau bulan apparently resembles a rising crescent moon when flown and is unique to the state of Kelantan... an iconic symbol of the Malaysia's culture and traditions... larger than other traditional kites, the wau bulan is richly decorated with floral motifs, bold colors, difficult to build, not easily transported and require tender loving care.... they even have a kites Museum in Malacca that includes exhibits and informations about the kites from all over the world... the different materials they are made with, and the role kites play in the cultural life of the people of those countries... this brings back lovely memories of holidays when I was a kid and flying kites with *homemade*😉 ones on our Belgian coast😍...Thank you Jobbo!【ツ】Hope your pen works again... or maybe you had to buy a new one?
Interested in making one for yourself:
Traditional construction materials are bamboo, rattan and paper. The best wau are made from bamboo that has been cured in the sun for at least 2 weeks.
The perimeter frame is made from sun-dried bamboo. The paper sails are further reinforced by a webbing of strings. Wau bulan are not flat kites. A skilled kite maker will ensure that the wings have a dihedral built in. The dihedral is induced by carefully cutting and gluing the paper sails on to the frame.
It uses a 3-legged bridle with 2 lines going to the top of the kite. Furthermore, the lower crescent sail is also slightly angled relative to the upper sail. All this results in a light, sturdy and strong kite that rises easily, even in light winds. The goal is to make a bow which produces a melodious tone.

MALAYSIA~ Turtle Island National Park - Borneo ~
... Beautiful view of one of the most fascinating sea creatures... sea turtles have been around for about 100 million years and even witnessed the fall of the dinosaurs.... must be amazing to see them in the ocean and watch them legging their eggs ... or experience the hatchlings being send to the sea on their first journey ever... but sadly due to the careless of people they are threatened with extinction ( ⌣́,⌣̀)... hopefully sea turtle sanctuaries like this can save them... Thank you very much Alan Tan!!【ツ】

From backside postcard:
A green turtle laboriously "paddles" its way ashore, amidst frequent loud puffs of breath, in search of a suitable site at which to perform that one activity that secures further chances for the species's survival-to lay it eggs.
Turtle Islands Park is located within the Turtle Islands, which lie in the Sulu Sea north of Sandakan in Sabah. It consists of 3 islands Selingan, Bakungan Kecil and Gulisan islands. (actually 10 in total, where 3 belong to Malaysia and the other 7 to the Philippines). It covers an area of 17.4 km² which includes the surrounding reefs and seas.
The park is a safe haven for the endangered green and hawksbill turtles and gives you the rare opportunity to watch turtle landings. Selingan, the largest of the islands, houses the park's headquarters, a turtle hatchery, tourist accommodation and basic facilities. The other two islands are more for conservation activities.
The Green turtle is the second largest of the seven species of sea turtle. Like most of them, the green turtle has been hunted by human for flesh, eggs and shell. The green turtle spends most of its live in the sea. The females come a shore to lay their eggs for only a very short time. From 1000 eggs, just one or two survive their first year. There are either eaten by fish, birds or other sea creatures.

Modern-day Malacca is a vibrant old city with a unique historical and cultural background from being the capital of a powerful Malay kingdom before the colonial era, as well as subsequent Portuguese, Dutch and British rule. The city centre was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in July 2008, along with Georgetown and Penang.
Backside postcard:
At the Dutch square, brightly decorated trishaws await tourists for a ride down memory lane. The trishaws are also equipped with stereo sets and often play loud music while taking visitors around the heritage side.

Pulau Payar is one of the many islands off mainland Kedah in the Strait of Malacca and is
located in the southern part of Langkawi and the most popular tourist destination. It is one of the four islands which altogether make up the Pulau Payar Marine Park including the islands of Pulau Payar, Pulau Lembu, Pulau Segantang and Pulau Kaca.
The Pulau Payar Marine Park, stated as a marine park in 1985, is the oldest, the only in the West Coast of the Peninsula Malaysia and one of the best diving spots in the world. It is rich with exotic marine creatures and the place also provides protection for its assorted marine life.

Nice Definitive stamp:
Garden Flowers (Issued 01-07-2010)
From the card:
Discover ancient rainforests, meandering streams, cascading waterfalls and pristine lakes. Blessed with year-round sunshine and rain, Malaysia is endowed with natural wonders.
The Malaysian Rainforest is the Number 1 most beautiful Tropical Rainforest in the World.
Being one of the best rainforest in the world it is also popular for being one of the top ranking biodiversity forest too. This forest is badly impacted by localization and is seriously endangered by human deforestation.(an average of 250,000 hectare of forest being lost annually). Reports said that if not taken care properly the Malaysian Rainforest can extinct completely till 2020. Now WWF Malaysia is doing good job by trying to revive its actual beauty and to maintain its status of being the most beautiful rainforest in the world. Malaysia's land surface was once almost entirely covered with forest.(source)
