BELARUS ~ Nesvish Castle and Park Complex - UNESCO

...  Great aerial view of the countries most beautiful palace according to the people of Belarus... Nesvizh Palace is on the Nesvizh Estate, one of the oldest settlements and most famous places... an island-type impressive complex constructed on a hill... it consists of a palace with landscape gardens and a church... its richly diverse architecture and attractive gardens make it one of the most popular tourist attractions... the castle is nicely renovated, well preserved and houses a museum, hotel and restaurant... it's really huge with many interesting rooms, beautiful decorations and furniture... a place with a lot of political and cultural history... also the landscaping of the surrounding area is lovely with ornamental lakes... with nice UNESCO stamp...Thanks Natalia!【ツ】
The estate and town was acquired by the Radziwil family in the middle of the 16thC, and they stayed there until 1939 when they were expelled by the invading Red Army. The foundation stone of Nesvizh Palace was laid in 1584. It was rebuilt many times and as a consequence has features of many architectural styles including: Renaissance Baroque Rococo Classicism Neo-gothic Modernism.

From 1494, the palace was owned by the Kiszka family, and by that time, it was a small palace. In 1513, one of the family members - Anna Kiszka married to Ian Radzwill, and that is how they became the owners of Nesvizh Castle.

In 2005 the Architectural, Residential and Cultural Complex of the Radziwill Family at Nesvizh was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

With lovely flower stamps!
1. The chapel-tomb of Sviatapolk-Mirskies
2. Castle and park complex in Mir town
The Mir Castle Complex is a central European castle typical for the region and is located at Mir - a small town. The construction of this castle began at the end of the 15th century, in Gothic style. It was subsequently extended and reconstructed, first in the Renaissance and then in the Baroque style. After being abandoned for nearly a century and suffering severe damage during the Napoleonic period, the castle was restored at the end of the 19th century, with the addition of a number of other elements and the landscaping of the surrounding area as a park. Its present form is graphic testimony to its often turbulent history.

The City Hall, the men's and women's St Bernard and St Basil monasteries, the 17th - 18th centuries jesuitical Catholic Church and the dwelling houses of the 18th - 20th centuries were all situated there. The ancient monuments that have survived till today all fit well in the modern urban architecture and lend charm to the postwar quarters.

BELARUS ~BLack Stork~

Got a very nice and impressive big bird card, the Black Stork ...Only the White Stork can be found in Belgium! Both have bright red legs and bill, and look very similar except for their colors!

The Black Stork Ciconia nigra is a large wading bird .It is a widespread, but rare, species that breeds in the warmer parts of Europe, predominantly in central and eastern regions.
This is a large bird, nearly 1 m tall with a 1.8 m wingspan, weighing around 3 kilograms. It is all black except for the white belly and axillaries, and its red bill and legs. It walks slowly and steadily on the ground. Like all storks, it flies with its neck outstretched. It has a rasping call, but rarely indulges in mutual bill-clattering when adults meet at the nest.

Stork are joining the numbers of endangered species in many parts of the world.
