HONDURAS ~ Maya Site of Copan - UNESCO ~

... Great views of one of the best, well managed ancient Maya Sites... a jewel of Mayan architecture and sculpture... Copan, considered by many as one of the most important and impressive cities of the ancient Maya civilization to visit... the recovered and partially restored ruins that are possible to visit, make only one small part of what this beautiful city was at its peak stage during the classic Mayan period... the museum nearby  is among the best on-site museums... it has the real stellae (several stellae in the ruins are replicas)...  the site sit in an unbelievably lush valley, it is easy to spot a variety of resident animals that roam around the ruins...  among those are monkeys, guacamayas (large parrots), macaws, sloths, and peccaries...Thanks a lot Cesar!! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

HONDURAS ~ Valle de Ángeles -

...Beautiful view of a little tourist spot in Central American Honduras... one of the most visited towns  located about 1/2 hour  from capital Tegucigalpa.... a quiet and relax place... the town has been restored to its original 16th-century appearance in parts, especially around the attractive Parque Central... famous for its Spanish colonial architecture, artisan souvenir shops selling Honduran artesanías (handicrafts), great scenery, plus nearby ecotourism... with nice stamps and postmarks... Thanks a lot Cesar!!【ツ】

Valle de Angeles is a very small place in the region of Francisco Morazan. This region was an important mining town in the history of Honduras, with enclaves such as Las Animas and El Socorro, which produced gold, silver, copper, tin, lead and zinc.

In the 1791 population count was part of the parish of Santa Lucia, under the name of the Cimarron or the pigsty. On April 1, 1862, Fray Juan de Jesus Zepeda gave it its current name, and in 1865 it was designated as a Municipality.

HONDURAS ~Roatán ~

...Great postcard coming from Central America...a beautiful view of Roatán, an island often called the Caribbean's best-kept secret...if only I could be on such bright blue beach right now...it's been raining for weeks here ☹... Thanks a lot Karolyn for sending a bit of "☼summer☼" into my mailbox!!

Roatán is the largest of Honduras’ Bay Islands even though it is only about 48 miles by 5 mile and  is located between the islands of Útila and Guanaja.

With its location near the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef (second largest reef worldwide after the Great Barrier Reef)  tourism is the most important industry on the island. It’s become an important cruise ship and diving destination in Honduras, with islanders also relying on fishing to make a living.

Honduras is the second biggest country in Central America and is surrounded by Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua. It has colonial villages (Gracias, Comayagua), ancient Maya ruins (Copan), natural parks (Moskitia), and a Pacific and Caribbean coastline and the Bay Islands, with great beaches and coral reefs.

Roatán, located between the islands of Útila and Guanaja, is the largest of Honduras' Bay Islands. The island is located near the largest barrier reef in the Caribbean Sea and the second largest worldwide after Australia's Great Barrier Reef. It has become an important cruise ship and scuba diving destination in Honduras.
