ZAMBIA ~ Bushbuck - Kafue National Park ~

... Nice animal view... widespread across Zambia, the Bushbuck is considered to be the least social of the antelopes and has a very small home range... Bushbucks do indeed live up to their name, preferring dense bush or forest thickets that provide good cover... but as with so many animals, populations are declining due to poaching and habitat loss... however, they remain common in many parts of their range and are considered by many to be one of the most beautiful African antelopes... Thanks Alena!ヽ(•‿•)ノ

The Bushbuck has a shoulder height of 90 cm and weighs 45 to 80 kg. It usually has white prints all over the body, particularly in the chin, ears, legs, tail, and neck. Its muzzle is also white in color. When a young male reaches 10 months old, it will grow horns that form a spiral over time.

Kafue National Park is the oldest and largest of Zambia’s national parks. It covers a massive 22,400 km2. First established as a National Park in the 1950’s by the legendary Norman Carr, Kafue is one of the largest national parks in the whole of Africa, home to 152 different species of mammals.

... New National Park nr2💚... an imposing "beast" view... one of the famous Big Five... Africa's only wild cattle and one of the largest and most common herbivores... the buffalo is one of the most dangerous animals to confront in the wild... with distinctive curved horns for defence and dominance... Kafue is home to thousands of Cape buffalo... they are native to Zambia and have existed there for thousands of years... Kafue NP is an undiscovered gem bisected by the beautiful Kafue River and is fantastic diversity of wildlife... Big Thanks once more Alena! ✿◕ ‿ ◕✿

The African Buffalo is massively built with short, powerful limbs and weighing up to 793 kg. The hook-shaped horns  can grow up to 1.6m. long. The African buffalo is a grazer. It feeds mainly on the grass. When the grass sources are scarce, it may eat shrubs and trees. African buffalos live in large herds that sometimes include thousands of animals. Usually, herds are smaller, with up to 12 animals on average. They have a poor eyesight and sense of hearing, but their sense of smell is excellent.

ZAMBIA ~ Victoria Falls - Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park ~

... First of two more African beauties💚... a new National Park👍... and UNESCO site👍... known by locals as Mosi-oa-Tunya, or "the smoke that thunders", Victoria Falls is one of the most iconic images of Africa and one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world... as the Zambian side has only a quarter of the falls, it could be said that the viewpoints this side are less spectacular... but you can only walk down to below the falls from this side and have exceptionally close-up waterfall views... but no matter which side you stay on, you can easily cross the border to explore the other or to undertake activities like helicopter flight over the falls, water rafting, gorge swinging, bungee jumping or visiting Livingstone Island... Thanks a lot Alena! (✿ ♥‿♥)

Spanning almost 1.7 km with a height of 108m split between Zimbabwe and Zambia, the Victoria Falls can be seen from both sides of the Zambezi River and has two entrance gates.

The European explorer, Doctor David Livingstone called the falls after Queen Victoria in England when he visited there in 1855.

Bordered between Livingstone town, farm land and the Zambezi River, lies the wildlife area of Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, Zambia’s smallest NP. This small reserve was established in 1972 with the idea of having representative wildlife species from Zambia. What makes this park unique in Zambia is that it’s the only wildlife area with white rhinos.

The area is a UNESCO World Heritage site, both for the Falls themselves and for the ecological significance of the area since 1989.
