COSTA RICA ~ Tortuguero National Park ~

... First of 3 amazing postcards from dear postcard friend Andrene☺️... on a tour "The Wonders of Costa Rica" a journey through Costa Rica's most diverse natural wonders... Tortuguero National Park, often called the "Amazon of Costa Rica," is a remote Caribbean paradise completely surrounded by water and accessible only by boat or small plane... famous for its dense rainforest canals, swamps, beaches and lagoons.... immense biodiversity, incredible wildlife and sea turtle nesting sites... Tortuga means turtle and Tortuguero "region of turtles"... it is the most important nesting site for the endangered green sea turtle in the Western Hemisphere... interested in "ecotourism" then your premier point of destination is arguably Tortuguero... Thanks a lot Andrene! (✿◠‿◠)

Tortuguero National Park is located in the northeast part of Costa Rica’s Atlantic coast.

Costa Rica is a global leader in biodiversity conservation, covering only 0.03% of the Earth's surface yet housing roughly 5% to 6% of the world's total biodiversity.  Home to 57 species of amphibians, 111 species of reptiles, 309 species of birds, 30 species of freshwater fish, 60 species of mammals and untold numbers of plant and insect species.
