GAMBIA ~ Flag ~

... Great flag view from the FOTW postcard series... coming from the smallest country on mainland Africa although it has one of Africa’s densest populations... the national flag of Gambia was adopted in 1965 after gaining independence from Britain... it is designed in such a way that it not show any political influences or bias so that it could represent the nation as a whole... this fact makes the flag of Gambia one of the few national flags in Africa that is not derived from the flag of an existing political party or movement... the red refers to the sun, the blue represents the Gambia River, the green represents the land, and the white stands for unity, peace, and purity... Thanks Alena!ヽ(ヅ)ノ

The Gambia is a small country located on the western coast of Africa, surrounded by Senegal except for its coastline along the Atlantic Ocean. Banjul is the capital and largest city of the country.
