Cap Carbon is also the site of Monkey Peak, home to a colony of Barbary macaques... they have a craving for sweet things and do not think twice about stealing snacks from unsuspecting tourists... this cape attracts many visitors to go on hiking trips and enjoy stunning views of the sea opposite... Cape Carbon is located in the state of Bejaia, north of the port of Bejaia and forms part of the Gouraia National Park. This natural reserve covers an area of 20.8 km² on the Mediterranean coast and was established as a national park in 1984.
The park owes its name to the Gouraya Mountains and boasts a variety of wildlife. Its forests are inhabited by jackals and Barbary macaques.
Gouraya National Park is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2004.
