Saint François Longchamp 1650 is the higher, bustling main village of this family-friendly iconic French Alpine destinations... famous for challenging road cycling, scenic Tour de France ascents, and year-round outdoor recreation (skiing in winter, hiking/biking in summer)... the ski station of the town is a welcome sight and typically marks the final, grueling 3-4 km stretch up to the summit of the Madeleine... one of the thoughest climbs in the French Alps but also one of the prettiest... Heel Erg Bedankt Ben en Loes! Saint-François-Longchamp is located in the Rhône-Alpes in the region of Savoie on the north side of the Maurienne valley. The town is situated between 800 and 2800 meters above sea level.The ski resort  was built in the 1950s with the longest and fastest ski lift in Savoie at the moment.

The Col de la Madeleine 2000m altitude and over is 19 km long with an average gradient of 8%.
