This site is dedicated to my hobby: collecting written and stamped (from country of origin) postcards! Postcard collecting is a very addictive hobby, but its a lot of fun, and you get in touch with lots of nice people worldwide...

GERMANY ~ Arithmeum - Bonn ~
... Great view of the steel-glass facade that's meant to represent the "transparency of science"... this unique four-floor museum shows how counting and mathematics began, early devices to add and multiply numbers, mechanical calculators, through to modern computers and the mathematics of chip design... it houses the most comprehensive collection worldwide of historical calculating machines and presents the highlights of the history of mechanical computing in aesthetically attractive surroundings... there are lots of machines, puzzles and computer simulations that you can try yourself... you don't need to be a maths whizz to thoroughly enjoy the Arithmeum... with lovely cartoon stamp and special postmark... Thanks Dustin!ヽ(ヅ)ノ Photo: Ralph Richter
The Arithmeum Museum is under the same roof as the Research Institute for Discrete Mathematics and is an essential part of the University of Bonn. It was founded in 2008 by the director of the institute, Bernhard Korte, who contributed his private collection of calculating machines. The museum's collection included 4500 calculating machines, 2000 books, 800 works of art, and 500 historical computers.
