GERMANY ~ Herrnhut - UNESCO ~

... Plenty of lovely views of a unique town known for its connection to the Moravian Church... featuring historical sites like the original settlement and the Moravian Church's Community Center.... Herrnhut remained instrumental in the organization, coordination, and centralized leadership of the worldwide Moravian Church well into the second half of the 19th century... today, this small town still has an active congregation and preserves original intangibles such as liturgical forms, music, education, and the preservation of church records in the Unity Archive... visitors can explore the history of the church through museums and tours and experience the town's quiet atmosphere... Thanks Kathrein!【ツ】

Herrnhut was founded in 1722 by Moravian refugees seeking religious freedom on the estate of Count Nicholas Ludwig von Zinzendorf. A spiritual revival occurred in 1727, leading to a period of intense missionary activity and the establishment of the modern Moravian Church. The town became a center for global missionary work and a model for organized community life, known for its industrious inhabitants and elaborate traditions like the "Daily Watchwords" and the "Herrnhuter Stern" (Moravian star).

The Moravian Church, also known as the Unitas Fratrum, was founded in 1457 in Central Europe and is considered one of the oldest Protestant denominations.

Moravian Church Settlements in Bethlehem, Gracehill, and Herrnhut are an extension of Christiansfeld a Moravian Church Settlement inscribed on the UNESCO list in 2015.
