.... Lovely museum view housed in a beautiful building... with elements of Historicism and modernized Art Nouveau making it an architectural gem... the exhibits of this two-part museum offers a unique combination of art and natural history, providing something for everyone... from prehistoric times to the present day divided into the Old Masters Collection, Classical Modernism, Modern and Contemporary Art and the Natural History Collections... within the museum you will encounter many doors and stairways, leading you suddenly from the nature part into a room with contemporary art or a room with statues and paintings of old masters... it’s part of the experience to get lost and to get confronted with all the museum has to offer... Thanks a lot Dustin!ヽ(•‿•)ノ
The three-winged museum building was built between 1912 and 1920 according to plans by architect Theodor Fischer. Following extensive refurbishment, the museum has been presenting its collections on 7,000 square meters of exhibition space since May 2013.
The establishment of the Wiesbaden Museum is closely linked to the cultural icon Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. During his stay in the city in 1814-1815, Goethe emphasized the importance of a museum for the city. His influence played a significant role in the creation of the museum, making it a site of historical significance.
