...Nice view of the older part of Angra do Heroísmo... this beautiful bright blue and white church is one of the most prominent landmarks of the city... the colourful facades are its highlights... this church is an important 18thC construction, built on the site of a former 15thC church dedicated to the Holy Spirit, which was attached to the first hospital in the city... located on the stunning Angra waterfront and has a four-floors facade with two towers and Baroque altars... access into the church is by stairs... mailed from the island itself👍!! Thanks a lot João!【ツ】
Terceira is one of the 9 islands within the Portuguese Autonomous Region of the Azores, an archipelago of Portugal in the North Atlantic Ocean.
It is one of the larger islands in the archipelago and home to Azores' oldest city Angra do Heroismo. This was an important island on the maritime trade route between Europe and North America, which contributed to its development. The island is in fact an active volcanic island, that is composed of several older extinct volcanoes.
It was classified as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1983.
