... Wonderful view of a small scale masterpiece created around 1410 by an unknown painter referred to as Upper Rhenish Master... painted in the international Gothic style on oakwood, measuring 26 x 33 cm... in this famous and charming painting, the artist depicts a secluded scene, with Mary the Mother and Jesus the Child in a secluded corner of a castle garden, a peaceful place protected by a wall from the violent outer world representing the paradise... the realism of the painting is unusual for the time... there are 24 plants and 12 birds in the garden, all accurately depicted... this painting is the Städel's most famous example of the old German school... with once more a sweet stamp from the series: "Heroes of Childhood“💙... and nice special first day postmark👍...Thanks a lot Dustin!
