CAMEROON ~ Elephants - Waza National Park ~

... Wonderful new National Park postcard💚... the main attraction at the park are the elephants🐘, in herds of sometimes as many as sixty specimens come to the watering holes...Waza National Park is the oldest and largest national park in Cameroon... it is famous for its diverse ecosystems, including savannahs, floodplains, and wooded areas, which provide a perfect habitat for a wide range of animal and plant species... it is one of the most visited places in this far north side of Africa and tourism is playing an increasingly important role in the park... Thanks a lot Akam!【ツ】

The Waza Biosphere Reserve is located in the Chad depression in the extreme north of Cameroon.

This National Park was founded in the year 1934 and was originally meant for hunting reserves. However, in the year 1968, it was converted into a National Park with a land area of about 1,700 square kilometres.

It  became a UNESCO biosphere reserve in 1979.
