... Nice aerial view of the most famous, but not the most beautiful building at the center of Frankfurt’s Old Town... the church holds a significant place in Germany´s history and is a symbol of the German democratic movement... it began as a Lutheran church in 1789... on May 18, 1848, the German National Assembly met for the first time in the Paulskirche - the first all-German parliament... the city celebrated this 175 years of the National Assembly special anniversary with an extensive festival program in 2023... today, St. Paul’s is no longer used as a church but a venue for various events... Thanks Dustin!ヽ(•‿•)ノ
Construction of the neoclassicist Paulskirche (St. Paul’s Church) started in 1789 but it took until 1833 before it was completed. The brick building has a circular nave with a single adjoining clock tower.
During World War II, allied bombings completely destroyed the Paulskirche together with most of Frankfurt’s historic center. Because of its historic significance, the Paulskirche was the first building reconstructed after the war.
