GERMANY ~ Constantine Basilica - Trier - UNESCO ~

... First of lots of postcard views from Trier, a charming city with so much Roman heritage... this impressive Basilica is the largest Roman structure outside of Rome that is still standing and intact... it contains the long throne room of the Roman Emperor Constantine who was largely responsible for the early grandeur of Trier... it is hard to imagine how the Romans were able to build the enormous hall, complete with central heating, and then cover it with a flat roof spanning the massive space with no supporting columns... inside are exposed brick walls, likely covered with marble during Roman times... with sweet Christmas stamp🎇 and special Berlin first day Christmas postmark🎄... Thanks a lot Dustin!¯\_(ツ)_/¯
