...Beuatiful view of one of the holiest and best preserved Buddhist temples in Thailand... this site is very important both historically and architecturally... being part of the Royal Palace complex, the very large monastery with dozens of structures was used by Ayutthaya Kings only for royal ceremonies.... it was a Royal temple without resident monks... even in its ruined state, the symmetry of the temple complex is preserved, and the 3 chedi chambers remain impressive buildings... you are able to climb-up these incredible structures and take in the surrounding landscape... today, the place is known as a great tourist destination... Thanks a lot Jobbo!【ツ】I've seen those "giant" grilled prawns and they look delicious (but the size of cats????🤪😉)

Wat Phra Sri Sanphet is situated on the city island in Ayutthaya (the former capital of Thailand) in Pratu Chai Sub-district.
Founded circa 1350, Ayutthaya was the second capital of the Kingdom of Siam. It was built where three rivers meet, giving it a strategic connection to the ocean. By 1700, Ayutthaya was a sprawling urban area of economical, religious and political importance.
A Burmese invasion destroyed the city in 1767 and its hundreds of thousands of inhabitants were forced to abandon the city. The building was set on fire and the gold was looted after melting down.
In 1991, part of Ayutthaya Historical Park was declared a UNESCO WHS site. The sites including Wat Ratchaburana, Wat Mahathat, Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, Wat Phra Ram, and Wiharn Phra Mongkhon Bopit.
