THAILAND ~ Jim Thompson's House Museum - Bangkok ~

... Something totally different from Bangkok today... a lovely and tranquil little green oasis in the middle of the bustling city... a view of the garden overlooking the veranda and Jim Thompson's bedroom... the home of former American businessman and architect, which has been turned into a Museum, and open to the public... he started the Thai silk industry after World War II...  it's one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand... also more my kind of place to visit (instead of a *mall*)😃... there is also a shop with handmade silk, from the Jim Thompson range, and a restaurant... he died under mysterious circumstances during a jungle trek in 1967 in the Cameron highlands of Malaysia... he vanished and his body has never been found... Thanks a lot Jobbo!! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Jim Thompson was born in America, in Delaware, in 1906, and worked as an architect. He was sent to Bangkok after the World War II, as a military officer.  When his military serving time was over, he settled down in this beautiful country permanently.

Jim Thompson became fascinated of the traditional Thai hand weaving of silk and founded the Thai Silk Company (in 1948).

The Jim Thompson House was built in 1959, the museum spans one rectangular "rai" of land (approximately half an acre or 2023.43 meters)
