This is a such fantastic postcard... Like million other people I watched the ceremony live on TV... I don't know much about politics but it was a very moving event and the Obama family looked really handsome!!
...What makes this postcard even more special is that she was not only sent on the day of the swearing-in but also posted a few blocks from the US capitol...
And for sure Max, it makes me feel closer to this historical moment!! Thanks, Thanks, Thanks Max!!
With lovely flag stamps:The U.S. Postal Service continues its tradition of honoring the Stars and Stripes with the issue of the Four Flags (Forever serie) stamps, this ones represents "Freedom-Liberty and Justice".
For more than two hundred years America’s citizens have witnessed the Inauguration ceremonies of the President and Vice President of the United States. From the first Inauguration of George Washington, in New York City, in 1789, to today, as we prepare for the 57th quadrennial Presidential Inauguration, the swearing-in ceremonies represents both national renewal and continuity of leadership. As each president has offered a vision for America’s future, we reflect on the heritage of Inaugurations past.
Wow! All politics aside, that is one heck of a fantastic and unique card.
ReplyDeleteLucky you! And kudos to Max for mailing it the same day as the inauguration.
...It is very special postcard for me!!
