GERMANY ~ Diocesan Museum - Bamberg ~

... Keeping the astronomical theme with the great "Star Trek" stamp🪐... a nice image that shows a detail of Emperor Henry II’s Star Cloak, a historic imperial robe specifically the constellation Gemini represented by the mythological twins Castor and Pollux... Gemini is rendered in intricate couched gold thread and framed within an eight-pointed star medallion... this imperial robe combines star motifs with zodiacal signs associated with Christ and the Virgin in a Byzantine-Arabic style... Thanks Dustin!¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Bamberg Diocesan Museum, situated in the chapter house adjacent to the cathedral, is home to a vast collection of art treasures. These treasures originate from the old cathedral treasury of Bamberg Cathedral and span the entire archdiocese.

Among the unique exhibits at the Bamberg Diocesan Museum are the so-called imperial garments. These are six magnificent garments associated with the names of Emperor Henry II and his wife queen Cunegunda. Empress Kunigunde. These garments provide a fascinating insight into the fashion and craftsmanship of the 11th century.
