Bonner Münster holds an important place in German religious history. It was built on the graves of two Roman legionaries – Cassius and Florentius – who were executed for their Christian faith during the reign of Julian Apostate around AD 362. Their remains have been preserved under the altar area making it a significant pilgrimage site since medieval times
Bonn is located on the banks of the Rhine in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The city served as the capital of West Germany from 1949 until 1990 and was the seat of government for reunified Germany until 1999, when the government relocated to Berlin.
The city holds historical significance as the birthplace of Germany's current constitution, the Basic Law.
