Nice new flag from the FOTW postcard series... the flag of Uzbekistan was adopted in 1991 to replace the flag of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic (SSR).... it features a blue stripe representing the sky and water... a white stripe for peace, purity and good luck... the green stripe represents nature, new life, abundance, and good harvest... the two red stripes symbolize vital life force... the crescent and 12 stars represent the birth of the new independent nation, historical tradition and the 12 months of the ancient solar calendar. Uzbekistan, is a doubly landlocked country located in Central Asia. It is surrounded by five countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan making it one of only two doubly landlocked countries on Earth, the other being Liechtenstein.
