... View of one of the few remaining monuments that stand undestroyed as a legacy of Hitler’s reign.... perched up in the clouds on the Kehlstein peak of Berchtesgaden National Park... in reality, the significance of this house during the Nazi era was minimal... Hitler rarely went up there to receive diplomats or other foreign guests... far more often, it was the Nazi entourage which gathered at the Obersalzberg for recreation and private celebrations... even if no decisions were made by Hitler on the Kehlstein, the building still stands for the madness of his regime; it stands for "his world" on the Obersalzberg, where plans for war and mass murder were forged... after renovations, the Kehlsteinhaus was opened as a mountain restaurant in 1952 and made freely accessible to visitors... with nice "related" stamp and postmark... from the series "Women in the Resistance against National Socialism"... Donata Helmrich and her husband Eberhard rejected the Nazi regime and supported their Jewish friends wherever they could... Thanks a lot Dustin!ヽ(•‿•)ノ
Known among the German-speaking world as the Kehlsteinhaus, the Eagle’s Nest was built for the Nazi Party on the Obersalzberg at 1,834 meters. Obersalzberg is a mountainside retreat situated above the market town of Berchtesgaden in Bavaria close to the border with Austria.
Berchtesgaden National Park was established in 1978 to protect the landscapes of the Berchtesgaden Alps. Germany's only alpine National Park has been a place where plants and wildlife remain untouched.
The park was designated a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCOin 1990.
