ERITREA ~ Crater Lake Abha Bada - Badda ~

... Never thought to get a postcard from this really "rare" countryđŸ€©... the small village of Badda is famous for the beautiful lake Abha Bada... a clear and pristine body of water in the middle of an arid and desert like area within the crater of an extinct volcanic crater... flanked by crescent shaped hill on one side and sand dunes on the other... this salt lake is located in the Danakil Depression about 30 metres below sea level... the Danakil Depression is a unique spot on Earth... it is found in Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Djibouti... the area is known for its volcanic activity and extreme weather... temperatures can reach up to 50 °C making it super hot and one of the most inhospitable places... rainfall in this area is very little... it covers about 136,956 square kilometers... another amazing aspect is the presence of a separate cold and pure water source only one meter away from the lake... the place surrounding this water is covered with various vegetations and also has few species of fish... coming here makes you feel like you’re on another planet...  Big Thanks Amelia!!!(✿◠‿◠)

Eritrea is a country in the Horn of Africa on the Red Sea and bordered by Sudan, Ethiopia and Djibouti. Asmara is the capital city and largest settlement in the country.

The Danakil Desert is situated in southern part of Eritrea in the Afar Triangle inhabited by a few Afar people who carry out salt mining in the depression. The Danakil of Eritrea is part of the Great East African Rift Valley. The rift valley is about 6,400 kilometers long and about 30-40 kilometers wide. It is only one of the two active rift valleys in the world, the other one being Baikal Rift Zone in Siberia, Russia, which is 2000 kilometers long.
