... FAAAANTASTIC postcard from a truly *rare* country to add to my collection👍... nestled in the heart of Dili, Tasitolu is a natural hidden gem... a symbol of Timor-Leste’s picturesque landscapes and rich biodiversity... the Tasitolu wetlands include three saline lakes, an esplanade, and a beach and has been designated a Wetland of National Significance... the area is known for its abundant coral and marine life, providing a perfect setting for underwater exploration... it is a place of great significance for the Timorese people, with beautiful surroundings and space for public events... and has historical importance, including being a symbol of resistance against Indonesian occupation... Big Thanks Amelia! ♥(ˆ⌣ˆԅ) (she visited Bali and booked a small trip to East-Timor... the postcard was precancelled there.)
East Timor, or Timor-Leste, is an island country in Southeast Asia on the island of Timor, Dili is the capital and largest city. It is the world's newest country, gaining independence in 2002. Known for its long-fought independence from Portugal and from its close neighbor, Indonesia. It is the smallest country in area and population in Southeast Asia. The name Timor is a variant of the Malay word timur, which means “east”.
Tasitolu is protected area on the coast of East Timor.Tasi means sea and tolu means three, referring to the three lakes in the area, though during the wet season the two largest merge, and during the dry season they can largely disappear.
