SWITZERLAND ~ Lucerne ~

... First of various beautiful Swiss postcards... a very popular holiday destination for friends and family this year😉... view of the Chapel Bridge and Water Tower... the city's landmark and considered to be Europe's oldest covered bridge... built in the 14th century, originally  part of the city fortifications... the pictorial panels, which were incorporated in the 17th century, contain scenes of Swiss history as well as the Lucerne's history... it is a picturesque city nestled amidst stunning alpine scenery, with towering mountains and crystal-clear lakes... one of the major stops on any trip to Switzerland... Thanks a lot Andrene!(✿◠‿◠)

Lucerne  or Luzern is a city in central Switzerland, in the German-speaking part, located on the Reuss River where it issues from the northwestern branch of Lake Lucerne.
The city’s name was derived from the Benedictine monastery of St. Leodegar (Luciaria), founded in the 8th century.

The Legend of the Chapel Bridge: It is said that the Chapel Bridge was once haunted by the ghost of a young woman who drowned in the river. People claimed to have seen her apparition wandering the bridge at night, searching for her lost love.
