Nice postcard showing the logo and various animals from the zoo... nowadays it is an "Erlebnis-Zoo" (an experience zoo): the zoo is divided into themed park sections with animal species that are characteristic of the represented area, as well as themed gastronomy, shops, shows and attractions such as a boat trip with tow boat ride between the animal enclosures... a perfect spot for observing more than 3,000 animals and one of the biggest and most important animal parks in Germany... Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover is located in the centre of Hanover in Lower Saxony and was established 1865, with an area of 22 hectares.The park was was operated as a traditional zoo with small sized enclosures till the ’90s. In regard of the upcoming world exposition Expo 2000, the park changed its face and created some of the most unique themed areas and enclosures.
The zoo offers a wide range of animals shown in seven beautiful themed areas. The enclosures of the animals are typically large and species-appropriate. The park also offers a variety of attractions and shows, which are all included in the park admission.
