GERMANY ~ Herrenhausen Gardens - Hannover ~

... Great garden view... the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen are amongst the most beautiful green spaces in the whole of Europe... originating back more than 300 years, they are an expression of garden art in its finest form... they are made up of the Great Garden (shown here) this has always been one of the most distinguished Baroque gardens of Europe that impresses with its Baroque ornamentation and superb fountains... the Hill Garden has been transformed over the years from a simple vegetable garden into a large botanical garden... the idyllic Georgengarten is laid out in the style of an English landscape garden and is ideal for walks... with lovely stamp and cute first day postmark💚...Thanks a lot Dustin!【ツ】

The Herrenhausen Gardens were originally planned as a pleasure garden for the royal court and were laid down by the Electress Sophie from 1676-1714 and today cover an area of 135 hectares.

The Great Garden, a huge open-air banqueting area, is at the heart of the complex. Having first been created in 1666, its design took on its modern form between 1696 and 1714. The baroque garden is home to many rare relics, such as the Grand Fountain, which is the tallest in any European garden at 82 metres. The spectacular water wheels and pumps make this monument a technical feat.
