... Great city view of the only authentically preserved large medieval city in Germany located right on the Danube River... a 310 meter-long Stone Bridge spans the river and leads to the beautiful medieval old town that features well-preserved buildings from the 11th to 15th century... the centre has over 1,500 listed buildings; of these, 984 form the "Old Town with Stadtamhof"... as an ensemble, the Old Town is simply unique... few other cities in central Europe can offer legacies of more than 2,000 years of history whichever way you look... with nice stamp and postmark honoring the Danube river... Thanks Dustin!【ツ】
Originally a Celtic settlement, Regensburg was officially founded in 179 by the Romans and it has always been an important location throughout history. Regensburg is located in eastern Bavaria, at the confluence of the Danube, Naab and Regen rivers, Danube's northernmost point. It is Bavaria’s fourth-largest city and the capital of the Oberpfalz region of Bavaria.
Bavaria is the largest federal state of Germany, situated in the south-east of the country, and extends from the North German Plain up to the Alps in the south.
Regensburg medieval centre was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006.
