... Lovely view of the south compound steps that lead to the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi or Bodhiya fig tree on a blue sky day in in the Mahamewna Gardens in Anuradhapura... the oldest living known human planted tree in the world... this fig tree is a very spiritually and physically significant part of this ancient city... it is a Buddhist symbol for a human being's capacity to achieve enlightenment since the first human achieved enlightenment underneath a Bodhi tree... it has been looked after by caretakers for over 2.000 years... a pilgrim place for Buddhists and today thousands of devotees come to make offerings, particularly on poya (full moon) days and weekends... with nice shaped stamp minisheet... Thanks Ravindra!! (✿◠‿◠)
