ARMENIA ~ Yerevan - Mount Ararat ~

... Great view of the capital city located in the Ararat valley, the mountain that you can see in the background... Mount Ararat, with an elevation of 5,165 meters, is the highest mountain in Turkey but it is still an important national symbol of Armenia... Yerevan is an ancient city with interesting history, and actually it’s one of the oldest constantly inhabited cities in the whole world... it’s a city of contrasts, a delightful mix of old traditions and new trends... Thanks a lot Jobbo! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ararat was a part of Armenia until 1915 when Turkey took over that part of Armenia. Yerevan is located in the north-eastern part of the Ararat Valley. It was founded in 782 BC by King Argishti I.

Armenia is a part of the Caucasus region and is bordered by Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaija, Iran and the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan. Being a former Soviet Republic it gained its independence in 1991.
