The Brazilian side of Iguacu National Park measures 170.086 ha. The park is located on the border of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. This massive forested park is the habitat of rare and endangered species such as rare species of birds, pumas, tapirs, monkeys and other wildlife.
Iguacu National Park was the second Brazilian National Park to be created in 1939.
Iguacu translated from the native Indian (Tupi-Guarani) language means “Big Water“
It became a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986. The adjacent Argentinian side is another World Heritage Site.
