GUINEA-BISSAU ~ School Class - Bissau ~

... Yeaahh!! One more "rare" African country of my missing list😄... unfortunately coming from one of the 10 poorest and least developed African countries... more than two-thirds of the population lives below the poverty line... development opportunities are limited because of past violence, political instability and obsolete infrastructure... and mostly children are directly affected by this situation.... therefore when I saw on facebook a request about donating money to students there (electrical devices, stationery) I knew it would be for a very good cause... PĂ©ter's (also a postcard collector) school has been in a partnership programme with a school in Guinea-Bissau for 4 years now and he visited them last October (taking two students of him)...I also ordered a few more for dear postcard friends whom also missing this country... so I hope they all will arrive safelyđŸ€ž... Thanks a lot PĂ©ter!! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Guinea-Bissau is a country in West Africa, bordered by Senegal, Guinea and the Atlantic ocean. It includes the BijagĂłs (Bissagos) archipelago and other islands that lie off the coast.

The capital and largest city is Bissau, founded in 1687 by Portugal as a fortified port and trading center. Guinea-Bissau became independent from Portugal in1974.

The economy depends mainly on agriculture; fish, cashew nuts and ground nuts are its major exports.
