UAE ~ Al Ain Palace Museum - Abu Dhabi - UNESCO ~

... Great view of the well-restored and preserved former home of the UAE’s Founding Father and first president, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan... a  prominent landmark and one of the most important cultural and rich historical places in Al Ain City... it is considered a symbol and a memorial for the modern history of Abu Dhabi and the UAE... there are around 15-20 rooms inside the palace walls, laid out as they would have been during Sheikh Zayed's life... Thanks a lot Heidi!!ヽ(ヅ)ノ
Al-Ain represents the oldest and most original settlement of the UAE, it is generally considered to be the cradle of the federation. Al-Ain comes from Arabic meaning  "the spring" or "the eye", indicating its richness of water in this dry territory.

The Al Ain Palace Museum is located in the "Garden City" of Al Ain in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE. It was built in 1937 and Sheikh Zayed lived there with his family until 1966. During that time, the palace was the scene of much social and political activity. It was renovated in 1998 and opened to the public in 2001.

The Al Ain Oasis has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011 and is the UAE’s only WHS site. The designated site is a serial nomination of 17 locations.
