St Kitts and Nevis is a two island country in the Caribbean Sea and part of the Leeward Islands. They are separated by a shallow channel known as "The Narrows".

The newest nations in the Western Hemisphere shares maritime borders with Antigua and Barbuda, Netherlands (Sint Maarten), Venezuela, Montserrat (United Kingdom), and Saint Barthélemy (France).

The capital city is Basseterre on the larger island of Saint Kitts.

The Berkeley Memorial stands in the centre of the Circus in the capital. The memorial features a drinking fountain as well as a clock. There are four clock faces, each one facing one of the four streets leading to the Circus. It was built in honour of Thomas B.H. Berkeley, a former president of the General Legislative Council in the 1880s.
