Tam Coc is located about 90 kilometers south of Hanoi in Ninh Binh province (home of the Tran dynasty) and near to the city of Ninh Binh.
Tam Coc, literally "three caves", consists of three natural caves, Hang Cả, Hang Hai, and Hang Ba. These three caves were formed by Ngo Dong river after long erosive process of water river running through limestone mountains.
The area is part of the famous Trang An Landscape Complex UNESCO World Heritage site. (2014)
