Trinidad  is a town in the center of  Cuba on the Caribbean coast near the Escambray Mountains.
It was founded in 1514 by Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar under the name Villa de la Santísima Trinidad. The town features some of the island’s best preserved Spanish colonial heritage from the time when the sugar trade was the main industry in the region. Nowadays, Trinidad's main industry is tobacco processing.

Many of its most striking buildings, including the Museo Histórico Municipal and the Museo de Arquitectura Trinitaria, are situated around Trinidad’s central public square, Plaza Mayor.

Trinidad was declared a World Heritage listed UNESCO site in 1988.
