"The Wadden Sea is for ten thousand years a landscape constantly changed by the influences of ebb and flow, sea and wind. It is the habitat of thousands of animal and plant species and also place of nourishment for millions of migrating birds. This unique, unlimited natural landscape is for 25 years a national park and since 2009 it is: World Natural Heritage of the UNESCO"
The Wadden Sea is not exactly a sea, but an intertidal zone on the coast of the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark. There are miles of mudflats and wetlands, lots of seals and other wildlife, and many recreational beaches on the islands. Hiking on the mudflats has become a popular pastime.
