A nice scottish postcard showing Glasgow... Again from friends on holiday...It almost feels as if I'm the only one at home.:( Hééél erg bedankt Dieter and Eve!!
With great stamp!! Great Britain produces postage stamps for use on international mail - particularly aimed at the tourist market - This stamp showing "bagpipes".
Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and third most populous in the United Kingdom. The city is situated on the River Clyde in the country's West Central Lowlands.
Views on the postcard:
1. The Armadillo - The Armadillo is the nickname for the Clyde Auditorium, part of the The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre.
2. High Street Tenements
3. The House for an Art Lover - based on a design produced in 1901 by Charles Rennie Mackintosh with his wife, Margaret MacDonald. The building is situated in Bellahouston Park. Construction began in 1989 and the house was finally opened to the public in 1996.
4. City Chambers - A grand and imposing edifice overlooking George Square, the City Chambers is an impressive symbol of Glasgow’s political strength and historical wealth. Completed in 1888, the City Chambers has for over a hundred years been the headquarters of successive councils serving the City of Glasgow.
