The "Mother's Love" Monument(1948). Established in memory of woman perished at the Ashgabat eartquake.It is based around the love of Turkmenbashi’s mother’s love for him. The mother holds the boy in her arms on what appears to be a giant flower emanating from the pond below.
President Niyazov built this statue at the place where his mother and two brothers were killed by the earthquake of 1948.
Ashgabat is the capital of Turkmenistan in Central Asia. It is one of the six independent Turkic states and bordered by Afghanistan, Iran, Uzbekistan , Kazakhstan and the Caspian Sea.
