... Nice view of the impressive Cathedral of Our Lady (Münster Unserer Lieben Frau) that stands proudly as a testament to past eras and is an integral part of the cityscape of Constance... a true pearl of historical architecture and one of the most important sacred buildings on the beautiful lake... with its majestic façade and striking towers is it not only an architectural masterpiece, but also a place of great historical importance... its late Romanesque architecture, artistic sculptures and Gothic stained glass windows makes it a testament to medieval craftsmanship at its finest... and a magnet for visitors from all over the world... one can also climb up to the tower for panoramic views across Konstanz and towards the Switzerland’s Alps... Thanks Dustin!【ツ】
It was built in the 11th century and has undergone numerous changes over the centuries. Over a period of more than twelve centuries, the Minster served as a cathedral for the bishops of Konstanz.
The Konstanz Minster is a place where history was written. From 1414 to 1418, the Konstanz Minster hosted the Council of Constance, one of the largest medieval congresses north of the Alps. The Minster served as the official meeting place for the council sessions, general congregations and liturgical celebrations.
