Lake Turkana National Parks, the fourth largest lake by volume in Africa is located on the Kenya’s north bordering with Ethiopia and South Sudan.
Lake Turkana National Parks constitute of Sibiloi National Park, the South Island and the Central Island National Parks, covering a total area of 161,485 hectares located within the Lake Turkana basin whose total surface area is 7 million ha.
It was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 and expanded in 2001. Lake Turkana is also on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage in Danger due to human activity.
