... Lovely evening view of one of Munich’s most famous squares... the Odeonsplatz has traditionally been an important site of parades and public events and is an attractive square surrounded by a number of elegant historic buildings and statues designed to offer a grand entrance to the city... dominated by the Theatine Church, an Italian Baroque building built in the 17thC with its bold, yellow facade... its Mediterranean appearance and yellow color have become a prominent symbol of the city and had a major impact on the Baroque architecture in southern Germany... with great🎶Jimi Hendrix🎶 stamp and special first day postmark👍... Thanks a lot Dustin!(●‿●✿)
Munich is the third biggest city of Germany and the capital of Bavaria located in southern Germany.
The first known settlement in the area was of Benedictine monks on the Salt road. The foundation date is considered the year 1158, the date the city was first mentioned in a document. Munich means "home of the monks", a name that stems from the Benedictine monastery founded in the area.
