USA ~ West Virginia State Map ~

...Great new USA state map for my collection... this Appalachian state is known for its ridged mountains and valleys, scenic rivers, stunning rock formations and historic towns... as John Denver already sang in his 1971 ode to West Virginia which describes it as "almost Heaven".... the popularity of the song has inspired resolutions in the West Virginia Legislature to adopt "Take Me Home, Country Roads" as an official state song... I'm a fan♥... with the "Total Eclipse of the Sun" stamp... it is the first U.S. stamp to use thermochromic ink, which reacts to the heat of your touch... placing your finger over the black disc on the stamp causes the ink to change from black to clear to reveal an underlying image of the moon... I tried it several times but it didn't work for me... maybe to cold fingers ... o͜͡o Thanks once more Denise!!❁◕ ‿ ◕❁

USA ~ Alabama ~

... Great postcard with map, flag, seal and all the states facts...  Alabama is the only U.S. state without an official nickname... but alternately referred to as the “Heart of Dixie” or the “cotton state”...these nicknames remain popular, along with the "Yellowhammer State", as a modern-day tribute to Alabama history... Thanks Kristin!!【ツ】

Alabama is a state in the southeastern region of the US. It is bordered by Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, the Gulf of Mexico and the Mississippi.

Alabama was the twenty-second state to be admitted to the union.

The state was indirectly named after a southern Native American tribe that took up residence in central Alabama in the 1500s. Historical accounts have referred to the group as the Alibamo, Alibamu, and Alabamon, among others, but it was the spelling of a river named in their honor that stuck.

Montgomery is the state capital and one of the largest city in Alabama which is known as “bombingham” thanks to its civil rights violence in the past.

Big thanks! (http://postcardsandroadtrips.blogspot.be/ )

Utha is well known as the most religiously homogeneous state in the Union ( its nickname is Beehive State)approximately 62% of Utahns being members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or LDS (Mormons), which greatly influences the state's culture and daily life.

Bordered by Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Arizona and Nevada (and touching a corner of New Mexico)

It is a geographically diverse state, located at the convergence of three distinct geological regions: the Rocky Mountains, the Great Basin, and the Colorado Plateau. Utah is known for its natural diversity and is home to features ranging from arid deserts with sand dunes to thriving pine forests in mountain valleys.

USA ~ Texas - map ~

...I really love map cards like this..."The Lone Star State" comes from the symbolism of the star on the 1836 flag of the republic, the "National Standard of Texas." The single golden star on a blue background signified Texas as an independent republic and was a reminder of the state's struggle for independence from Mexico.
Thanks a lot Judy!!
