LEBANON ~ Tripoli ~

... Lovely view of the coastal side and harbor (Al-Mina) of Tripoli... this Middle Eastern jewel and capital of the North of Lebanon sits on the beautiful Mediterranean coast... Lebanon’s second-largest city, offers a rich blend of history, culture, and stunning Mediterranean architecture... a mix of ancient buildings, lively markets, and cultural wonders with modern charm makes it a remarkable destination in Lebanon... I really thought the card was lost because it took almost a year to arrive😊...Thanks a lot Nassib!【ツ】
Lebanon is located along the eastern shores of the Mediterranean Sea bordered by Israel and Syria and  is one of the world's oldest countries.

Lebanon's history makes a country with a diverse population with diverse religious and ethnic groups. After independence tension increased between different groups. The country has been plagued by conflicts and civil war (1975-1990), most of them over religion. The civil war ended in 1990, but violence continues in Lebanon. In southern Lebanon violence continues between the terrorist group Hezbollah and Israel forces.

LEBANON ~ Bacchus Temple - Baalbek - UNESCO ~

... Great view of one of the largest Roman temples still standing today and part of the Baalbek archaeological site... Baalbek's impressive Temple of Bacchus is often described as the most beautifully decorated temple in the Roman world, and it's certainly one of the best preserved.... this temple  was (likely) dedicated to Bacchus (also called Dionysus)... he was the god of wine-making, fruit, fertility, festivity, ritual madness, theater, insanity, and more (aka the fun party god)... his worship was adopted by the Romans from the Greeks... Baalbek is one of the most prized historical sites in the Middle East and the world...Thanks a lot Amelia!(✿◠‿◠)

Baalbek is a modern city in the eastern part of Lebanon, close to the Syrian border in the Beqaa Valley and serves as the headquarters of the Hezbollah Islamist militant group.

The site was once a thriving Phoenician city known as Heliopolis (“Sun City”).The  Bacchus temple was likely built in the 2nd century and possibly commissioned by Emperor Antoninus Pius.

The portico has eight columns along the facade and 15 along the sides, supporting a rich entablature and an exterior ceiling of curved stone that is decorated with vivid scenes: Mars, a winged Victory, Diana drawing an arrow, Tyche with a cornucopia, Vulcan with his hammer, Bacchus, and Ceres holding a sheaf of corn.

The Temple of Bacchus became an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.

Lebanon is located in the Middle East and is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, Syria and Israel. Beirut is the capital city and a major port.

The coastal town Byblos (Greek) or Gebal (Phoenician) is located on a cliff of sandstone on the Mediterranean coast. This city is a testimony to a history of uninterrupted construction from the first settlement by a community of fishermen dating back 8000 years. Byblos is also directly associated with the history and diffusion of the Phoenician alphabet. The origin of our contemporary alphabet was discovered in Byblos with the most ancient Phoenician inscription carved on the sarcophagus of Ahiram.

Byblos was officially recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.

Byblos, modern Jbail is located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, north of Beirut.

This Romanesque church is the cathedral church of Jbeil. The church is dedicated to Saint John Mark, the patron saint of the town, who is said to have founded the first Christian community of Byblos.

The church itself was built in 1115 AD by the Crusaders, originally as the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist. The structure was extended and improved over subsequent centuries. It is a mixture of Arab and Western European designs, with remains of Byzantine mosaics from an earlier structure scattered around the area.

Byblos was declared a UNESCO Heritage Site in 1984.

Lebanon is located in the Middle East and is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, Syria and Israel. Beirut is the capital city and a major port. Lebanon is a small country with a varied landscape consisting of beaches, mountains, valleys, forests and woodlands.

Simply known as "The Cedars", this resort settlement in Lebanon's highest range is one of the most dramatically beautiful spots in the country. Its centerpiece is an ancient grove of cedars, a tree synonymous for millennia with Lebanon itself.

The Cedars tree, majestic and indestructible, is the emblem of Lebanon and adorns its flag.
