MARTINIQUE ~ Saint-Anne ~

...  Picturesque view of colorful fishing boats on one of the most paradise looking places in Martinique... Sainte-Anne offers some of the most beautiful beaches of the island🌞☀️... despite the great popularity of the town, it has managed to preserve its charm and authenticity... there are many beautiful white sand beaches and turquoise Caribbean water that invite you to relax in the shade of coconut palms🌴🥥... Thanks a lot Magdaléna! (✿◠‿◠)

Sainte-Anne is a town on Martinique, a Caribbean island and overseas region of France in the Lesser Antilles. It sits on a peninsula at the island's southern tip.

The city of Sainte-Anne was founded in the 17thC around the growing of sugar cane.

The town bears this name in memory of the commander of Sainte-Anne, defender of the island against the English in 1808.

Thanks a lot dear Glenn!!【ツ】Hope you had a wonderful holiday! ☼ ☼ ☼

The Purple-throated Carib is a large, dark hummingbird with a purplish-red throat and breast, greenish-blue tail, emerald-green wings, and a down-curved bill, found only on certain islands in the Lesser Antilles in the eastern Caribbean.

It lives in mountain forests and clearings, is often seen in banana plantations, and occurs occasionally at lower elevations.

Banana flowers are the beginning stage of the banana, also known as "banana blossoms".They are a purple-ish flower, tear shaped and hangs at the end of banana cluster.

MARTINIQUE ~The Martinique Pre-Colombian Archaeology and Prehistory Museum in Fort-de-France ~

... Just a week ago I mentioned when I got this great Caribbean map card that I still missed a few of the islands showing there... and look today I already got one of them... a wonderful surprise o͜͡o... my first card ever from this island...  a little bit of France in the Caribbean and an very popular cruise destination... the postcard shows a beautiful 19thC building formerly used as a military supplies office and  now a listed Historic Monument... as being a French overseas region, Martinique uses French stamps... Thanks a lot Rod!! ❀◕ ‿ ◕❀

Located in the French Antilles between Dominica and St. Lucia, this  volcanic island is marked by a range of rain-forest covered mountains. Its capital and main urban area is Fort-de-France.

Since 1971, the Martinique Museum of Pre-Colombian Archeology and Prehistory has been housed in this building. The museum brings together a rich collection which traces the prehistory of Martinique, a period of over 4000 years long before the European colonization.

Its collections include some 2,000 artifacts encompassing ceramics, stone and shell items, bones and some jewellery. These pieces were discovered in a series of digs variously located around the entire island during the 19th and 20th centuries.
