ANDORRA ~ Sant Miquel d'Engolasters Church ~

... Lovely church view that is undoubtedly one of the most iconic examples of Romanesque style in Andorra, which is home to some 40 of these medieval buildings... the infrastructure of this Lombard church represents the summit of Romanesque art in the country and  the bell tower and porch of Sant Miquel give it distinctive touches that set it apart... one of the great attractions are the paintings and sculptures you’ll find there... a beautiful and very interesting fresco which is actually a reproduction as the original that is now in the National Art Museum of Catalonia... from this spot, the panoramic views over the Andorra la Vella valley are amazing... the church also has a large courtyard that each year hosts the celebration of Sant Miquel d'Engolasters' Day... during this festivity muscatel and blessed cake are distributed to all attendees and different popular activities are held, such as the dance of sardanas and the offering of flowers...Thanks a lot Josep&Assumpta! ♥(ˆ⌣ˆԅ)

This church, Romanesque in origin, was built sometime before the 12th century. The rectangular layout has a nave, a semi-circular apse, a gable roof, a belfry and a later porch. The building is peculiar for the disproportion between the nave and the 17-metre high belfry.

The top level of the belfry preserves one of the few examples of Romanesque sculpture in Andorra: heads carved in the centre of the double window arches.

ANDORRA

... Lots of beautiful picturesque views of a tiny European country... they came in envelope because at the post office in Soldeu they said to only way to send postcards was inside an envelope... (I already received a few written and stamped🤔)... probably because you had to buy the envelope as well... but it is a nice envelope from Hotel Parador Canaro, an establishment with a long history and tradition in Andorra... Farré Family, known as Family Canaro, began in hotel business in 1963 with the hotel La Posta Soldeu, it had 12 rooms... after several renovations it now has 64 comfortable rooms with magnificent views over slopes of Ski Parador Canaro and surrounding mountains... Andorra is the only country without its own postal system, they are operated by Spain and France... both have their own stamps and mailboxes... Thanks a lot Andrene for all the effort you made to get me this great postcards and envelope!! (✿◠‿◠)
Andorra is a tiny, landlocked independent principality in the Pyrenees mountains, South Western Europe. It the the sixth-smallest nation in Europe and the sixteenth-smallest nation in the world.

Andorra has two princes. The president of France and the Bishop of Urgell serve as co-princes for the country. It is the world’s only co-principality.

In Andorra there are 303km of slopes and the ski resorts are served by 102 ski lifts.

It has 65 peaks above 2,000 metres so several of its resorts, including the lofty Pas de la Casa and Soldeu, are amongst the most snow-sure.

The region has invested heavily in snow-making facilities too, so if the weather doesn’t oblige, the cannons will fire up to make plenty of snow to keep runs open.

ANDORRA ~ Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley - UNESCO ~

... Great nature view of the only UNESCO World Heritage Site listed in Andorra.... considered to be the "spiritual heart" of Andorra... a beautiful and preserved region of one of the smallest countries in the world... home to many endangered wildlife species... it offers a unique environment for excursions... a place where nature surrounds you with all its strength... dream landscapes with mountains, rivers and streams... the majority of the valley is underdeveloped, which means that many of the cultural traditions in the valley for many centuries have remained intact... it's also still used for grazing by local farmers... Andorra is the the only country without its own postal system, they are operated by Spain and France... both have their own stamps and mailboxes... this is my second one from La Poste France👍...Thanks a lot Jordi!!ヽ(ヅ)ノ
This glacial valley is located in the southeastern portion of Andorra with a total area of over 42 square kilometers. This portion of the valley comprises about 9% of the total land area in the country.

The upper part of the valley features an exposed glacial landscape with picturesque steep cliffs, rock and lake glaciers. Further down, the valley narrows and becomes more wooded. A secondary valley is also to be seen here at the point where Perafita Claror Valley blends into the Madriu Valley to the South West.

It is a cultural site that was inscribed into the list in 2004. In 2006, there were extensions added to the original site.
